Photo Composition 1

Hey guysi’m back!! In this first post in a three part mini series, i will be going over the different styles of photo composition used. Photo composition is integral for film and photography as it offers a variety of effects to please the eyes of the viewer.

The first kind of photo composition we are going to look at is the rule of thirds theme. Mentally, it is a good idea to break apart your picture into 9 seperate grids, as shown above (but i did them on the picture to make is easier for you to understand). With these lines, you would place the subject of the photos along the lines of the grid. A big reason why this technique is used in photos is to creat a differen t kind of energy and interest that would otherwise not be found if the subject was aligned in the center. As a viewer, you are able to see something different with the person not being fully centered.

The next kind of technique we can take a look at is framing. The concept of a framing photo is when you use any element to create a frame within the frame of your photo. As the example above shows, my brother uses his fingers in order to create a frame within the photo. But what is the purpose of a framed photo? This technique is used in order for the viewer to have complete tunnel vision and only focus on what’s within the frame.

I hope you guys enjoyed the first part of this three part mini series. There’s a lot more to come in the future so stay tuned!!!
