Welcome back everyone! In todays blog, were going to be continuing the con versatile of the history of magazines. So without further ado, lets get right into the meat and potatoes.

Widely known as one of the most recognizable magazine companies for nature inspired narratives, the National Geographic Magazine was founded in 1888. Many of its publications at the time and even today focused on science based and natural beauty around the world.

Sports Illustrated first began its publication in 1954. Towards the beginning, many of their stories were targeted towards the wealthy Americans at the time and the sports they played at their leisure. This included some sports such as water polo and even boating. That changed, however, during the 1960s when  Andre Laguerre took over as managing editor of the publications. This is when their module changed to the style of modern times where they focused on all major sports and decided to shift their target audience to the mass public rather than only to the wealthy.

Definitely one of the front runners of the most influential magazines for teenagers, the Seventeen magazine was founded in 1944. It is the first magazine in American history that was targeted specifically for American teenagers.

The history of magazines is definitely a long and interesting one. What originally came from a brand new printing press would ultimately lead to one of histories biggest medias of spreading information. Well that’s all for this post folks, have a great rest of your day!
